Dr. Lucas Rylander is a board-certified Orthopedic Surgeon with fellowship training in Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery. Since entering clinical practice in 2011, he has built a comprehensive orthopedic practice focused on helping patients restore mobility, function, and quality of life.
Raised in a small rural community in central Illinois, Dr. Rylander understands the importance of accessible healthcare and strong patient relationships. He is passionate about helping people return to the activities that matter most to them. Whether that means competing in sports, returning to work, or simply lifting a grandchild without pain, he is committed to providing personalized care that supports each patient’s goals and lifestyle.
Throughout his career, Dr. Rylander has combined clinical excellence with leadership and medical education. In addition to caring for patients, he has served in physician leadership roles and helped support orthopedic care delivery across large healthcare systems while mentoring residents and fellow physicians.
Dr. Rylander has been recognized for his contributions to patient care, physician leadership, and medical education, receiving honors including 5280 Top Doc, The Permanente Award, Outstanding Service Line Medical Director, and the Allan Bucknell Excellence in Resident Education Award.
While he values the innovation and resources available within large healthcare organizations, Dr. Rylander enjoys practicing in rural communities where he can develop meaningful relationships with patients and make a direct impact on their lives.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Rylander enjoys skiing, hiking, biking, international travel, and spending time with his wife and two sons.
