Ear Tubes (Tympanostomy)

Tympanostomy is a common pediatric procedure that involves inserting an ear tube to help drain fluid from the middle ear and prevent infections. Tiny tubes are placed through the eardrums, which separate the outer and middle ear. The tubes are made of plastic or metal and typically fall out in 4 to 18 months.

Children who experience frequent or persistent ear infections may require tympanostomy to prevent potential long-term complications, such as hearing loss. Tympanostomy can also help children who still have fluid buildup in the ear after an infection clears up.

At Kimball Health Services, our board-certified ENT surgeon, Dr. William O. Dickey, performs a safe and compassionate tympanostomy to address your child’s infection and promote overall ear health. Our team takes extra care to ensure your child is comfortable during the procedure.

Tonsils & Adenoids

Tonsils and adenoids are part of the immune system and help protect your child’s body from disease. The tonsils are located at the back of the throat, while the adenoids are located behind the nose.

Tonsils and adenoids sample bacteria and viruses that enter through the mouth or nose. However, sometimes, they can become infected, inflamed, or enlarged.

At Kimball Health Services, our team, led by board-certified ENT surgeon Dr. William O. Dickey, provides expert care for issues related to the tonsils and adenoids.

Our comprehensive approach to tonsil and adenoid care for children includes detailed evaluations, advanced diagnosis, personalized treatment plans, and supportive care. Our team ensures that you and your child are well-informed and comfortable throughout the treatment process.

Chronic Sore Throat

A chronic sore throat is characterized by pain, scratchiness, or irritation of the throat, which persists for more than ten days. It often becomes more pronounced when swallowing. The most frequent cause of a sore throat (pharyngitis) is a viral infection, such as a cold or flu, which typically resolves on its own.

Acute pharyngitis is more common than chronic pharyngitis, with symptoms usually subsiding within ten days. In contrast, chronic sore throat persists for much longer, often lasting several weeks. Treatment for a chronic sore throat generally focuses on alleviating symptoms until the infection clears.

Chronic sore throat in children can be a troubling and persistent condition, affecting their comfort, health, and overall well-being. At Kimball Health Services, we understand the impact chronic sore throat can have on your child's daily life and development.

Our dedicated team specializes in diagnosing and treating the root causes of chronic sore throat, ensuring comprehensive and compassionate care for your child.

Pediatric Nosebleeds

Nosebleeds, medically referred to as epistaxis, are a common occurrence that many people experience at some point in their lives. When the small blood vessels within the nasal lining burst, they release blood, resulting in nosebleeds.

Nosebleeds are usually benign and stop within 10 minutes without excessive bleeding, causing temporary inconvenience.

But sometimes, they can be frequent and prolonged and lead to excessive blood loss.

You may need to seek medical advice in case the bleeding does not stop, especially if accompanied by other concerning symptoms.

At Kimball Health Services, we prioritize the health and well-being of you and your child. Our ENT and primary care team are dedicated to providing prompt and effective treatment for nosebleeds in adults and children.
