Our groundbreaking new hospital is more than just steel and concrete; it proves our commitment to advancing healthcare for our community. Thoughtfully designed and equipped with cutting-edge technology, this state-of-the-art facility addresses past gaps in services. It also expands healthcare offerings to create a lasting impact on the region's healthcare landscape.
Planning for the new facility took several years, but on May 11, 2022, we broke ground on the new 61,000-square-foot facility. Despite challenging weather and unprecedented supply chain issues, construction was completed in January 2024.

Kimball Health Services new facility features:
The new facility has a modern, welcoming design. It combines functionality with comfort, offering spacious nurse stations, advanced surgical suites, and thoughtfully designed common areas.
The new hospital offers a comprehensive range of services designed to meet the diverse healthcare needs of the community. The facility also features state-of-the-art operating rooms, patient rooms, pharmacy, and more.
The Kimball Hospital Foundation conducted the "Advancing Healthcare for Our Communities" capital campaign to support the new hospital project. Kimball Health Services recognized donors' generosity by naming them on the donor wall in our new facility.
This was a special naming opportunity to create a legacy for yourself, honor a loved one, or build awareness for your company or organization's community support.
Signature naming opportunities through the Kimball Hospital Foundation create a lasting reminder of a donor's commitment to our new hospital and will be appreciated by the Kimball community for many years to come.
The project was funded through a USDA loan, county revenue bonds, and private donations through the "Advancing Healthcare for Our Communities" capital campaign.
The project cost was just over $43 million.
Medicare reimburses critical access hospitals like Kimball Health Services for costs incurred for both inpatient and outpatient services, including allowable costs, such as depreciation and interest related to building projects.
This means Medicare can be expected to reimburse Kimball Health Services for more than 50% of the project cost.
With this project, there is limited risk to taxpayers.
Kimball Health Services does not receive county funds and has not received funds for over 20 years. The hospital and clinic are supported solely by the revenue generated from our operation. This project expects that any bonds sold for financing will be paid back using hospital-generated revenues.
